Welcome To The Boy Scouts of America!!

First off, we would like to say thank you. Thank you for your willingness to try out our great organization and all the fantastic benefits it has to offer your son as he grows. Scouting is about character development and having confidence in yourself to Be Prepared!

The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) is the largest youth organization in the U.S. with nearly 3 million youth members and 1.1 million registered adult leaders. These members make up the 122,582 local Scout units that in 2005 logged more than 34 million hours of community service.

Our program is a family program. We hope it will become part of your family and that you will come to enjoy Scouting just as much as your son.

This page is designed to help you become familiar with Scouting and to answer some questions you may have.

Stay Informed!

Scouting is active in so many ways! There are numerous programs and activities for your son to participate in.

When you join your Unit, make sure you get all the contact information you will need and also make sure your provide the means by which you wished to be contacted. This includes email, home phone, cell phone, and even Facebook!

Baden-Powell Council works very hard to keep our families informed. Here are some ways we communicate with our members:

  • www.bpcouncil.org  This website is a big part of our communication. Through it you can receive emails, newsletters, register for events and trainings, and read about the latest going on with Scouting in the Southern Tier and Northern Pennsylvania.
  • The Voice- our quarterly newsletter

I have more questions, who can I talk to?

Our first recommendation is that you talk to your Den Leader and/or Cubmaster. The have a lot of resources and knowledge about Scouting in your Pack and maybe able to help you out.

If you still have questions, you are encouraged to contact us.  For a list of our staff, please click here.
